English actress Sophie Winkleman married her royal husband, Lord Freddie Windsor, in a beautiful ceremony at Hampton Court Palace on 12th September. The ceremony is reported to have been an emotional one with Sophie- best known for her role as Big Suze in comedy Peep Show- weeping as she said her vows.

She walked down the aisle of the 16th century Chapel Royal in a stunning dress designed by Russian designer Anna- Roza Bistroff. It reportedly cost £5000- not a particularly massive cost for a Lady and she even allegedly managed to blag a discount as Anna- Roza is a family friend. Not bad going! Made of a whopping 80ft on duchesse silk satin and 36ft of taffeta, the beautiful ivory dress had a full skirt with delicate floral embroidery and a sweetheart neckline to the bodice. The long lacy sleeves perhaps looked a little dated, but Sophie looked radiant nonetheless. This dress was the stuff little girls dream of with a huge 10ft detachable train! She accessorised with a long two-layered veil and a simple diamond tiara to match her beautiful pearl and diamond drop earrings. Her hair followed the latest natural trend- flowing loose in gentle waves and her make up followed suit with a radiant natural look.

Sophie arrived in a silver Rolls- Royce with a police escort. As she walked down the aisle to Laudate Dominum by Mozart with a teardrop bouquet of white and pink roses with jasmine garlands by Annabel Lewis of VV Rouleaux florists, she was accompanied by no less than six young bridesmaids. They included her niece, Freddie’s family members and family friends of the couple. Each bridesmaid wore a white flower hairband also by Annabel Lewis.

Lord Freddie, an investment banker who is 31st in line to the throne, looked dapper in a grey suit with tails designed by Hardy Amies and a pale blue tie. A white rose to match his wife’s bouquet was used as a buttonhole. If you thought the bride had a lot of attendants, wait for this- Lord Freddie had a huge 15 groomsmen! His best man was good friend and singer Henry Morton.

The chapel was decorated beautifully with white candles and fabric butterflies decorating the trees outside which the 400 guests had to pass to reach the chapel. Guests included musician Bryan Adams, writer Julian Fellowes and Sophie’s television presenter half sister Claudia Winkleman. Of course there were several royals in attendance, the most prominent of whom was Princess Eugenie- one of the Queen’s grandchildren and sixth in line to the throne.

After the ceremony, the guests attended a reception in the palace’s Great Hall where they were served Champagne, canapes and cake. They then travelled to the nearby home of Lady Annabel Goldsmith for a party with a buffet and music provided by a band fronted by best man Henry Morton. With barely a day to recover, Lord and Lady Frederick set of to Los Angeles where Sophie is filming her new TV series.

A lovely, emotional royal ceremony in the most beautiful of locations- who wouldn’t want to marry in a real palace? The home of Henry VIII no less, let’s hope they have more luck than the infamous king did with marriage!

Congratulations Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor!

Italy was the location of the marriage between lingerie model Danielle Bux and former footballer/ Walker’s villain Gary Lineker on 1st September. We’ve all heard the stories about footballers and their weddings to WAGs- spending thousands on rings, meringue dresses and custom made thrones yet this pair’s seaside Italian ceremony reportedly cost a measly £400. Don’t be fooled though, it’s also rumoured that they spent £250,000 on their reception the following day, including £20,000 on a dinner consisting of six courses for just 60 guests! Not entirely modest then.

The couple’s informal marriage ceremony was conducted in front of just two witnesses at the Ravello town hall on Italy’s western Amalfi coast. They had to hire a translator as the ceremony was conducted entirely in Italian! As if that wasn’t enough, they also had a blessing at the hillside spot was the same location that Gary had proposed to Danielle a year earlier whilst they were visiting her favourite country.

Danielle wore a stunning custom-made £9000 Suzanne Neville white dress to this blessing which flattered her curvaceous figure perfectly. The V-neck cut looked lovely with dainty sparkling straps. The satin ruching accentuated Danielle’s gorgeous curves and fell into a long loose skirt with an elegant train. She accessorised simply with nothing more than a small diamond tiara and cathedral length veil. Below the veil, Danielle wore her hair in a classic style with loose curls cascading over her shoulders. The only jewellery she wore was her wedding band.

Gary looked smart in a very simple black suit and tie with a bright pink rose to add a dash of colour and match the fuscia rose bouquets that decorated the clifftop venue.

Danielle walked down the hot pink rose petal-strewn aisle of the Hotel Caruso’s gardens to the sound of “Ave Maria” with her disabled half brother, who was giving her away in the absence of her estranged father, and 7 year old daughter from a previous relationship. There was also a violinist and an opera singer at the celebrations to entertain the guests during the lavish meal, the menu of which was created by top chef Marco Pierre White, at the luxurious hotel’s open air restaurant. There were also rumours that Welsh singer Duffy was booked to perform at the reception.

The couple also celebrated with a champagne boat trip around the sunny Italian coast for family and friends. Danielle looked stunning in a long cream wedding dress with sparkling grey lace overlay and silver jewellery whilst Gary wore a simple open-necked black shirt and trousers. The small party of guests who attended the Mediterranean celebrations included posh it girl Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and former Liverpool footballer Alan Hansen.

Admittedly they spent rather a lot on their wedding, but with such an intimate ceremony for close friends only, and with the lack of any magazine deals, they have managed to avoid the tacky extravagance that many other football marriages fall into. Besides, what girl doesn’t want to get married in two wedding dresses?

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Lineker!

Bubbly actress and TV presenter Denise van Outen married her West End star husband Lee Mead in April 2009. Telling friends that they were just going on holiday, the two jetted off to the luxury Labriz Silhouette resort in the Seychelles where they secretly married in front of a select few guests. They kept the wedding simple and low key which makes it perfect inspiration for brides who want an elegant, informal wedding.

The newlyweds- who met when Denise was a judge on “Any Dream Will Do”, the show that turned Lee into a musical star- both looked modern, stylish and classic during their romantic beach wedding. They managed to keep everything unfussy to create a wonderfully chic wedding at a fraction of the cost of an average celebrity wedding. It’s great to see a star couple who don’t spend their pay checks on tacky matching thrones and cinderella pumpkin carts for their wedding!

Denise wore a Jenny Packham “Rosalind” dress and a glittering seventies style headband- “Brooke”- also by Jenny Packham. Her hair followed the seventies theme of her hairband in chic, modern-hippy waves. The rest of the outfit was kept simple, free from jewellery and with just a dash of natural make up. Lee looked just as stylish in an informal grey suit and pink shirt to match the ribbons on Denise’s dress.

For the bride who wants a similar look, it is possible to buy the exact same outfit, and not even at extortionate prices. The “Rosalind” gown is priced at around £2500 and the “Brooke” hairband is £395 from High Society Bride. Whilst it’s refreshing to see a celebrity bride spending no more than £3000 on her outfit (and a reported £12,00 on the ceremony, wedding and honeymoon combined) this is still out of budget for many brides without the celebrity salary.

Monsoon sells this similar “Latham” dress for an amazing £200. It even has a similar crossover detail, but in ivory instead of pink. It would be very cheap and easy to buy a length of pink ribbon from a haberdashery and attach it to the dress to create a very similar style. Made of ivory silk, this dress drapes beautifully and the bust is beaded with delicate pearl and diamante detailing to add a little shimmer. It is a dress that is flattering for all figures, as it skims curves and hides any lumpy bits. Perfect for a summer wedding, the dress is cool and loose-fitting.

Popping next door to Accessorize, you can pick up this pearl headband for just £5.00! It matches the pearls in the bodice of the “Latham” dress and has a similar shape to that of Denise’s headband. It will achieve the seventies hippy boho look that Denise has managed so elegantly with minimum effort. No fighting with hair pins or teasing hair until you resemble an electrocuted cat, just loosely curl your hair with a curling iron, spritz with a little serum and slip on the headband. Simple!

All finished! Denise van Outen’s unfussy bridal style for an absolute bargain at £205. Finish the look with some simple sandals from <a href="http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=2194&id=79966"target="_blank"rel="nofollow"title="" >Debenhams or Next, and your outfit will still come under £300. Who would have thought that you could look so elegantly and stylish for such a low price? Now, just slip on the flower garlands and you’re good to go!

Stunning actress Salma Hayek had not only one, but two weddings to husband Francois-Henri Pinault this year!
The first was a small, private affair in Paris on that most romantic of days- St Valentine’s Day. The second was more public, held in an 18th Century Venetian opera house in April, with white orchids fluttering all over the venue. The couple spared no expense, with the whole day costing a rumoured $2 million. Of course, the average bride doesn’t have a couple of million lying around to flash about so I have found ways to get this lavish wedding look for less.

The dress was a stunning Balenciaga creation by Nicholas Ghesquiere- handy that Francois-Henri’s company owns Balenciaga! With a fitted beaded bodice featuring a flattering V-neck and full silk skirt, Salma looked every inch the superstar bride in her breathtaking gown. Her hair was tied back into an elegantly chic bun above which a simple two-layer veil cascaded to her waist. The only jewellery she wore- apart from the wedding ring, of course- were a pair of statement diamond drop earrings.

Of course, we don’t all have a husband-to-be who owns a top designer brand. However, this Sophia Tolli dress is a similar style and design and less than £1000. It has an intricately beaded bodice with a corset fastening to pull in your waist and create a sexy hourglass silhouette. The pretty lace sleeves are detachable so are perfect for brides who like a versatile look: wear the sleeves during the ceremony to create modesty then remove them in the evening when it’s time to party. The full skirt is made of tulle and creates the fairytale shape that Salma wore so elegantly.

A similar veil can be picked up from the ever wonderful Wedding Veil Shop. This style is a snip at £59. A bold pair of earrings such as these silver and pearl pair from Ernest Jones complete the look. They are only £45, and add a touch of glamour to an otherwise simple outfit. With hair classically tied back out of the way, these earrings get a chance to shine.

As for your make up, keep it simple. A touch of bronzer for that Latino look, a sweep of golden brown eyeshadow and a lick of rose coloured lipstick is all you need to complete this gorgeous style.

For less than £1,200 you can have the Salma Hayek style for your own wedding day and look as lovely as Salma herself. With that saving, maybe you could afford two weddings too!

Congratualtions Mr and Mrs Pinault!

S Club 7 and Strictly Come Dancing star Rachel Stevens finally tied the knot with Alex Bourne in a Jewish ceremony on the 2nd August 2009. They married in the London’s fancy Claridge’s hotel with over 180 guests, although interestingly not one of her S Club co-stars was present. Here is our summary of her sumptuous outfit, along with how you can replicate the look for less!

She married in a beautiful princess-style ballgown with a fitted silk bodice and full tulle skirt. Designed by Mira Zwillinger, it featured crystal beading and a pretty feathered corsage. She wore her hair in tumbling curls behind a simple two-layer veil and a delicate flower hair clip. On her feet were towering Christian Loboutin peeptoes, and she wore dangling diamond earrings and a matching bracelet as finishing touches.

With Rachel’s dress reportedly costing over £4000, we’d need to save up a few more pennies to be able to wear it. However, help is at hand from the amazing Maggie Sottero range, with this gorgeous “Sinatra Marie” dress at around £600. It has a tulle skirt almost identical to Rachel’s dress, and with a ruched bodice this dress is uncannily similar. The only difference is the straps- perfect for brides who want a little more security than a strapless style- but you can always ask if it is possible to have them removed from your dress.

For a simple elbow-length veil, try the Wedding Veil Shop which sells this style for £35- it even features Swarkozski crystals, exactly like Rachel’s veil. A similar flower hair clip can be picked up at Acessorize for just £10.

As for the shoes, Christian Loboutins do not come cheap but I have found these bargain copies from Faith for just £55, and they come with a stunning flower corsage. At a whopping 4 inches high, these are perfect for shorter brides like Rachel.

To complete the look, pop on these pretty earrings and matching bracelet from Debenhams at just £40 for the pair. Curl your hair loosely, slick on a little liquid eyeliner and there you have it. Your superstar steal bridal outfit for a fantastic £740! I spoil you, really I do.

Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Bourne!
