As a bride to be it’s always nice to shop on a site that’s more personal, i.e. you can discover a dress and more that matches your personality, style, and budget. That’s why sites like Tailored are so amazing because you can save what you like on the site and afterwards tweet about it or mention it on Pinterest.

This fabulous site has already been mentioned on our blog once before, but I thought I would feature some recent additions to the site. So far Tailored is the only place online where brides can browse a site and discover inspiring photos, products, and more that they can save and share. They also can create lists of what they’d like to use or wear during their wedding and share it with friends. Think shopping + social media combined and you have it made.

This bridal resource is rather clever and I personally can’t wait to explore it more. They also are great at capturing fashion trends on the site (i.e. the Oscars), and showcasing them through bridal gown trends and more.

Meet Michele Woodford, an incurable romantic who loves to work with brides and their families. On Michele’s Etsy profile for her ifanhour Etsy page, she confesses that she loves anything “vintage, glam, historic, and ironically modern, AND bridal.” Hence why it’s easy to see why her handmade fashion and accessories are so beautiful and detailed. Due to my curiosity I decided to scour the internet and I came across several veils that are simply gorgeous. Flyaway Veil -

A flyaway veil is a shorter veil that is 10″ to 15″ with one to two layers. Since this veil covers a lot of your hair and face (if you choose to have it over your face,) I would personally wear my hair down. You could wear it semi-down like the bride to the left or you could have it all the way down with cascading curls.

Since a veil does a lovely job at accenting your best features, why not add to the veil with lovely locks that flow down your back? That’s my take on a flyway veil and the ideal hair style. Keep in mind that you can also wear a petite veil with a side-piece jewelry or hair picks for a truly lovely look.

Tiered Fingertip Length Wedding Veils -

A veil that’s slightly longer might be more suiting to your style. I know I would like a longer veil for my wedding day. These wedding veils are 36″ in length and look stunning. They also are available in a variety of edges and feature accented elements such as  rhinestones, pearls, crystals, and beads.

If you choose to go with a fingertip length wedding veil I would wear your hair in an updo. The reason why is because a fingertip veil can be worn under your updo. This will create a perfect bridal appearance that will still put emphasis on the veil. In addition an updo will be viewed better and will stay tidy and lovely on your wedding day too.

Visor and Birdcage Veil -

Since this type of hair veil frames the top part of your hair and head, I think this is yet another veil that looks great with an updo. A feather accent bridal veil, for example, can be placed in the center of your stylish updo – creating a beautiful look that you will love (I know I would!) on your wedding day.

Cathedral or Chapel Length Veils -

Long and lovely veils are just as beautiful as a flyaway veil or birdcage veil. They come in different colors such as ivory and white and look gorgeous with a long train on a wedding dress. If you decide on a chapel length veil I think having your hair down will be a great choice. You also could have a half up and half down hair style for another look to consider.

So now that we know about different types of veils, which veil is right for you? Which hair style is right for you? As you can see there are many veils to choose from and the appropriate hair style makes the veil look totally different in a beautiful way. Choosing a hair style that complements your dress and veil will bring the entire look together. When its your wedding day it will be time to reveal a veil, hair style, and dress that you adore.

I feel like I have been going to a wedding fair every couple of weeks since I got engaged, but at each one I find at least one vendor with something to excite me. Subscription fashion services are the latest business trend for celebrities.  They have been popping up everywhere over the last year or so, from Kate Bosworth’s JewelMint to Kimora’s Just Fab.  I recently signed up at the UK ShoeDazzle (Kim Kardashian’s offering) to see what all the fuss is about…

The Basic Concept

Subscription sites work by identifying your basic fashion style and offering you a range of choices each month.  You can then pick which item(s) you would like sent to you.  The idea is that you don’t have to spend hours trawling through shops to find item, and that you can start to build a cohesive wardrobe of complementary fashion accessories.  Every item is a set price, so you also know exactly what your budget will be each month.

Pros

Like most women, I have a pretty mix and match wardrobe so the idea of having expert advice from a stylist who can help me to create a stronger fashion sense is appealing.

Since the sites are free to join, you get a customized styleboard of accessory suggestions each month at zero cost.

ShoeDazzle offers more than just shoes, with matching bags and jewellery you can create a full look of items that match.

I love that the site offers seasonal styleboards so that I can get suggestions that are suitable for right now.

The range of styles seems pretty diverse… while filling out my profile I had to choose items I liked from a list of suggestions.  Some I loved, some I loathed and the personal styleboards that I have received since signing up have been pretty spot on for my fashion sense.

Cons

With a monthly price tag of £39.95 I would expect a higher degree of quality on the items.   Also troubling is that item descriptions don’t reveal what materials are used.  For example the jewellery set pictured below was recommended for me this month, and is just labeled:

Colour:Gold

I am left with questions such as “Is it plated with real gold?” “Is it just cheap gold-toned metal?” “Is it hypo-allergenic?” Likewise, is the silver suggestion tarnish free?

The bags and shoes are obviously not leather (or that would be used as a selling feature).  Fine, however what are they made from?

Perhaps most shoppers aren’t as picky as me, but if you aren’t picky you could probably spread your £40 budget a little further by shopping the high street.   Stores such as Matalan, Primark, Peacocks and even supermarkets like Asda and Tescos all offer similar products at cheaper prices.

The fee is charged each month after your first purchase whether you order an item or not, with each payment logged as a “credit” on your account with each item being worth 1 credit, so if you don’t take an item one month you can order 2 the next.

My Verdict

I like the concept and I love the style suggestions, however I don’t like the idea of being tied to spending my shopping budget in one place each month.

I would love to see a tiered system… pay for 1 credit per month and have items that are worth 1, 2 or 3 credits with different quality levels that would let me save for higher quality or designer items.

If you struggle with putting together an outfit and want to keep your wardrobe up to date with the latest fashion trends (and don’t mind how long they last) then this is a great resource.  Me, I will stick to my monthly city shopping spree.  After all, you can’t get a Cappucino and the buzz of browsing the sale rails from a website!
