Appearing at London Fashion Week for the first time, Hakaan is an acclaimed designer with a great eye for shapes and structure.
Next up on the catwalk at London Fashion Week yesterday was Caroline Charles. A native London designer, Charles Autumn Winter 2010 collection featured retro 1940’s lines and embroidered patterns in modern shapes and styles. Highly wearable, her collection was full of great formal dresses.

We start a thrilling season of fashion shows, award ceremonies and wedding fairs this week, kicking off with London Fashion Week. Opening the show for the fifth time, was Paul Costelloe. While his Spring Summer 2010 collection had been light and full of whites, his Autumn Winter 2010 collection was a polar opposite, with little colour in the pallette of black and chocolate browns. Only a little gold embroidery added some flash to the dark designs. The designs are highly tailored, with simple, strict lines that are flattering for all ages and ideal for Mother of the Bride. Shop from his collections online at John Lewis.

Eli Saab is synonymous with texture. He can play with embellishments in a way that no other designer can, while retaining an elegant overall silhouette and feminine feel to his gowns. As one of his models from his runway show at Paris Fashion week said, his dresses make a woman feel “chic, strong and beautiful”.
Elie Saab’s ready to wear designs for his Spring Summer 2010 collection hinted at the structure of the 1940’s, softened by layered draping. There were hints of geometric shapes here and there, but they never compromised the timeless feel that Saab’s gowns posess. Fabrics such as georgette were used widely, which created flowing lines, while jersey gave some gowns a more sumptous finish. (more…)

French-Lebanese fashion designer
Dany Atrache presented his Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2010 collection in Paris on January the 27
th at Galerie Nikki Diana Marquardt. Over 500 seated VIP guests attended the show including fashion professionals, journalists, and international media in addition to royalty. Dany’s S/S 2010 couture collection showcases modern and sexy styles that are also ultra elegant and feminine. The muted pastel tones range from pink, grey, green, and pearl mixed with black. Each piece of the collection is intricately styled with heavy metal accents giving the collection an overall feel of modern edge.
Italian design house Carnevali Spose’s new wedding gown collection features structured lines with plenty of feminine touches such as lace overlays and elegant gathered folds.
There are also some hints of colour, particularly blue notes which have crept their way into so many 2010 bridal gown collections.
The wedding gowns are contemporary, with plenty of unique dresses for a modern bride to choose from.

We’ve all been there, whether its after a long day at the office or a long night of dancing, when you’re not sure what part of your feet hurt more. But no bride needs to be more worried about her aching feet than enjoying her big day.
For this very reason Emily and Jessica Leung started Hey Lady – a range of wedding shoes for brides and bridesmaids that you can actually dance in. This is thanks to both the PORON insole, a memory foam developed by NASA which is both breathable and shock absorbing and the hidden arch support which helps to distribute your weight evenly across your foot. But the science bit is all very well if the shoes look awful or remind you of something a granny would wear but I’m pleased to report that their collection is fa, with a variety of styles which are available in either a 3″ or 4″ heel. (Yes, that’s right ladies: a high heeled shoe that is comfortable!)

Jasper Conran, the man behind our favourite Debenham’s collections, is a man of many talents. As well as the clothes, fabric, glasses and luggage he has designed, he has also stepped into bridal wear. His stunning bridal label is now 2 years old and offers a variety of different styles to suit the tastes of many brides. His current collection is no exception, an absolutely beautiful range and all the gowns are rather sweetly named after flowers. I take a look at some of my favourite gowns from this collection.
This Meadowsweet dress is perfect for the bride who is after a fairytale wedding. The bodice is boned to streamline your silhouette and support your clevage. This gives a glorious shape that is flattering to all figures- accentuates the curves of hourglass shapes and creates curves from column figures. The sparkling brooch at the waist makes a gorgeous glittering effect that looks wonderful when it catches the light. It also draws attention to your now tucked in waist. As for the skirt, it’s just spectacular. The full tulle style is a gorgeous princess style and the soft tiers add a soft, romantice effect. This stunning dress would look gorgeous during a winter wedding with a faux fur stole and muff. Beautiful!

The runway was on fire with glamour in Spain recently with a fashion fiesta of everyone from Rosa Clará to Jesús Peiró.
While traditional strapless wedding dresses made their rounds, flowing white wedding gowns were also all the rage with a few gold stunners in the mix. Floral applique, feathers and ruffles were a big hit as well as jewel tones and pops of unexpected color like the reds and purples seen in Patricia Avendaño’s line.
Check out what made my top three in this season’s big bridal extravaganza!
