Designer Details

If the devil is in the details there are quite a few naughty brides walking down the aisle these days. Designers are veering away from the sleek, simple silhouette gowns of the turn of the century and adding layers of embellishments to create volume and interest.

Although less common in the high street or off the rack retailers, look to retailers of designer wedding gowns and you will quickly be carried away by the dreamy concoctions of designers less encumbered by the budget and production restraints of mass production.

Here are some top trends we are noticing:

Froth!
Yes, we have seen ruffles on the catwalks before, but these gowns have a much less refined look, with rough edges and off-white tones contrasting with strict tailoring of the rest of the gown to create a fascinating and modern style.

Tie Me in a Bow
Forget the tidy satin contrast bows that seemed to adorn just about every wedding gown in the last decade. The last incarnation of the bow is whimsical and natural, with an almost impulsive air of a last minute addition. Think chiffon and tulle and asymmetrical positioning to get this look right.

Sheer Shoulders
Kate Middleton was right on trend with her demure, skin covering gown. More and more designers are incorporating a sheath section to subtly cover the shoulders, decolletage and upper arms.
