Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life. And, whilst every bride knows she will be the centre of attention, there are few brides for whom this knowledge does not evoke a little fear! However, by taking action sooner, rather than later, it is possible to positively exude health and beauty from every pore! It is, after all, only natural to want to look your best for your wedding day and, by devising a bride to be fitness programme, you can achieve success.
The top tip for achieving wedding day fitness has to be, “it is never too early to start”!

As soon as you know when you are going to be getting married, you should be lacing up your trainers! If you are terribly unfit, or have not exercised for a while, then it is best to start slowly. Remember every little helps and trying to run before you can walk will only lead to injury. So, the best possible course of action is to start with a gentle walk. Thirty minutes a day is all you need to get you going and after about two weeks you will be able to increase the duration and speed of your exercising sessions. Gradually, working up to speed walking, jogging and eventually running. The best method is the `alternative` one, i.e. walk two minutes, jog two minutes, etc… till you can eventually run the whole way.

If being a bride to be is not incentive enough, or is you think you may have trouble sticking to plan, then enlist your groom to be or one of your bridesmaids! This way you can discuss the wedding as you work out! If you think you will have trouble incorporating a walk into your day, then try adding it into your schedule, get off the bus/train a stop earlier on the way to/from work. Or walk home from the supermarket at the weekend.
If you are serious you could always join a gym or invest in a treadmill for your home. There are some fantastic space saving treadmills available and even fold up models! Perfect to take your fitness to the next level.

You should also start working out with free weights. Small weights will increase strength and tone you up, rather than bulking you up. These are inexpensive, but if your budget is really tight you can always try cans of beans or bottles of  water. Building stamina is essential for your wedding day and can be achieved by eating a healthy diet and increasing your exercise, in the build up to your wedding. Remember to consult your GP before starting a fitness programme.

Once you have an exercise schedule taken care of, you will feel so much better dealing with the rest of your wedding preparations. Tasks such as finding the perfect dress, choosing which footwear to wear on your wedding day and even getting a makeover at the local cosmetics counter or hairdressing salon, will all be a piece of cake (albeit one you do not eat!)
