Behind the sophisticated, timeless look of AMSALE Bridal Gowns is couture bridal and evening wear designer Amsale Aberra. Amsale’s love for fashion stirred within her as a young girl growing up in Ethiopia, and was nurtured after enrolling in New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. After graduation, she worked as a design assistant for Harve Benard, and two short years later, her dream of launching a modern and innovative collection of sophisticated custom bridal gowns came to life.

In 1985, while searching for her own bridal gown, she was disappointed to find overdone and fussy bridal wear that didn’t match her understated style. Beginning with a small team of couture sewers, Amsale started Amsale Bridal Gowns out of her New York City apartment. AMSALE (pronounced Ahm-sah-leh) is now a well-known name in the fashion industry and her classic and modern style is coveted not only by prospective brides seeking elegant and classic bridal wear, but also by film and television producers, celebrities and socialites. Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, Heather Graham and Heidi Klum are just a few of the many famous and stylish women who have been photographed wearing AMSALE ball gowns, cocktail dresses and evening suits.

A visit to Amsale’s Madison Avenue boutique in New York City would reveal a reflection of her “forever modern” vision. Recognized by Interior Design magazine, it is a 5000 square foot boutique with a gallery-like atmosphere, the perfect setting for her elegant and upscale designs. In addition, her bridal wear can be purchased at several specialty retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue as well as at some of the finest boutiques across the country.
