Who Says All Bridesmaids Should Wear the Same?

I love seeing someone incorporate unique elements of style into their wedding fashions.  From quirky cummerbunds, to coloured bridal shoes it is a sign that the bride has a strong sense of her own tastes.

Even better is when she extends the same mentality to her bridesmaids and allows them to wear different gown to match their unique shapes, styles and skin tones.  With so many beautiful bridesmaid dresses available these days, there is really no reason why each bridesmaid can’t wear a different gown while still coordinating with the overall look of the wedding party.

However, there are still a few key things to keep in mind to avoid your bridesmaids looking like a random assortment of your girlfriends who happen to have followed you down the aisle…
Colour Co-ordinate
While it is generous to allow your bridesmaids to choose their own gowns, you will still want to make sure that they don’t clash.  Give a guideline, such as asking them to look for gowns within a range of blue, or sticking to pale, pastel shades.

A Sense of Style
If your bridesmaids have very different styles or body shapes, you might want to give them free reign to pick their own gown which will flatter their figures.  However, for the best effect you should always to try and have at least one consistency within the group of gowns.  For example, if every gown is a different shape and length, your wedding party will look much better if the bridesmaid dresses are all the same colour.
