Menswear at London Fashion Week
Mens fashions at London Fashion Week 2010 were certainly a mix bag! While some designers showcased futuristic visions of radically new styles, others such opted to rework retro looks from eras gone by.
The old movie lover in me particularly enjoyed the 1940′s crisp, masculine lines and dashing trilbies of Hardy Amies’ Autumn Winter 2010 collection.
In general, trouser legs were tapered in most collections. (*Sigh* Not a good look for most men, so unless your man is a model this is one trend to skip in favour of more classic style suits.) There were more than a few touches of Goth and Metal, with zips, leather and other rough-around-the-edges touches appearing in many designers’ work. Think big buckles, boots and bondage…. well, perhaps just for the honeymoon?
Perhaps the reason for the trouser shrinkage on this year’s London Fashion Week catwalks was due to the redistribution of the fabric to the upper half of the body? Certainly draped layers, oversized coats and long jumpers were popular, so at least men should be nice and warm next winter season!
