Elie Saab Spring Summer 2010
Eli Saab is synonymous with texture. He can play with embellishments in a way that no other designer can, while retaining an elegant overall silhouette and feminine feel to his gowns. As one of his models from his runway show at Paris Fashion week said, his dresses make a woman feel “chic, strong and beautiful”.
Elie Saab’s ready to wear designs for his Spring Summer 2010 collection hinted at the structure of the 1940′s, softened by layered draping. There were hints of geometric shapes here and there, but they never compromised the timeless feel that Saab’s gowns posess. Fabrics such as georgette were used widely, which created flowing lines, while jersey gave some gowns a more sumptous finish.
However, as always, it was in his haute couture collection for Spring Summer 2010 that his talents were free to run wild, and his massive creativity is apparent.
His pale, patterned chiffon gowns hint at the pastel colours that are being touted as the next trend wave in wedding fashion. Feathers and ruffles could almost be considered Elie Saab’s signature flourish, and this collection doesn’t dissapoint on that front, with plenty of both appearing in the pale gowns.
The finale wedding gown was a curious creation in nude, with a heavily embroidered bodice and strange Tudor inspired headpiece.
