Every bride to be knows that the costs of a wedding soon build up. Especially when it comes to a wedding dress. The average price for a wedding dress now is around £900- even more for a designer dress. So what happens if you find the perfect dress but just can’t find the perfect price tag? Well, if you don’t want to compromise on dress or price, you can buy that perfect one second hand for a much cheaper dress. I know just the place to look.

Sell my Wedding Dress is the ideal website for brides on a budget. Here, brides sell their wedding dresses at much cheaper prices. With a list of all the top designers on the homepage, it is easy to find the dress you are looking for. With hundreds of dresses listed, you are likely to find it in your size. If you don’t get lucky, you can put up a notice saying that you are after the dress. If a newlywed with the dress notices this, they can then offer to sell it to you. No fuss whatsoever.

If you can’t find it in your size, and have no luck with your notice, you can try buying the dress in a larger size. You’ll have to pay to have it altered but the overall cost will still be much lower than you would have originally paid for a brand new dress.

Among the hundreds of dresses listed are the Ian Stuart “Florence” dress above. In an ivory size and a size 12, it is worth £1300. The bride is selling it on, with a shrug and corsage, for an incredible £600! That’s a saving of £700- just think of what you could buy with that! If you’d prefer something a bit more simple, this ivory Pronovias “Ipendu”. A size 14, it has never been worn and has a recommended value £1160. It is being sold for… you may need to sit down for this… £450! I’m sure you’re already rapidly doing the maths and working out that it is a saving of £610. An absolute bargain!

Once the wedding is over, you may want a little extra spending money for honeymoon. Then, for a fee of £50, you can put the dress back up on the site and earn some money back whilst bringing another bride to be the joy you experienced.

A fantastic website for brides with a low budget but expensive tastes. Enjoy!

About the author

I have always been fascinated by weddings! When I was 10, I read all my mum's wedding magazines and planned not only one, but two entire weddings (a summer and a winter wedding), right down to the apple name-places and centrepieces! Now I am finally planning my own wedding, although with four years to go I have plenty of time to plan!

We definitely recommend buying a used wedding dress. They’ve usually only been worn once and probably for only 5 hours! There are tons of sites that can connect you with local sellers so you can see the dress beforehand, try it on, and inspect it for any rips, stains, etc. With sites like eBay you’re taking a chance that it looks the same as in the picture and you probably have to pay shipping fees. If you don’t like the thought of buying used, these sites also have brand new dresses that are end-of-line or brides who ended up purchasing 2 dresses because they couldn’t make up their mind. And once you’re done with your dress you can sell it again to recoup 50% of your cost! Best of luck! Be sure to check out http://www.smartbrideboutique.ca.
