Schizophrenic designer?

How can one designer get it so right and so wrong in the same collection???
Hate It : Culture Clash
Patricia Avendaño’s work is unique and daring and unquestionably European in flavour but I think her combination of Spanish ruffles with Scottish tartans was a bad move. Add garish colours to the mashup and you get the bridesmaid’s gown from designer hell.

Love it: Sophisticated Style
Every element of this gown screams designer cosmopolitan style. From the plunging neckline to the immaculately tailored lines to the brooch detail. All in a sumptous avacado silk that is a refreshing change from the blues, greens and lilacs that usually swathe bridesmaids.

I love nontraditional weddings, but I have to agree with you on Patricia Avandano dress. I don’t think a bridesmaid dress should have to be one color, one style, etc., but I think it should evoke a certain mood or theme. Somehow, it needs to tie in with the rest of the wedding. And I don’t see this dress doing that in any sort of wedding, because it has too mny flavors thrown into the mix.
That purple number is exquisite. A jewel. I don’t think I’d want a bride to put me in it, though. I’m a bit too pear-shaped. My hips would be hurting.
The designer might have different inspirations in making these dresses..However both look very beutiful, depending on what event it will be used.
