Wedding Dress Designer Sassi Holford

After designing wedding dresses for 27 years, Sassi Holford understands what a bride wants from her wedding dress. Sassi’s inspiration comes from her clients, and admits that she “loves enhancing the female shape”

The starting point for all of her gowns is the integral corset, which provides the bride with a streamlined silhouette, while still being completely comfort to wear.

There is a very romantic feel to her collection, with lace decorating a number of the gowns, giving them a vintage feel.  But all the designs feature exquisite lines and luxurious fabrics.

The Amelia has a pretty sweetheart neckline lace top and shoulder pieces with a fluted A-line silk organza skirt. Continuing the romantic, vintage feel gowns, is Charlotte and India. Charlotte features a full French lace gown with delicate shoulder pieces. While India has a V-neckline in lace, decorated with pleating and draped lace sleeves.

Sassi knows that “Brides want to walk up the aisle feeling their most beautiful and the right wedding dress can achieve that.”

If lace is not your thing, there are plenty of other fabulous gowns to choose from, my personal favourite, Freya, is an A-line silk zibeline gown with duchesse satin empire bodice, embellished with scrolling silver bead work at the waistline and on the fluted cuffs of the high-neck satin shrug.  Or you could choose Valencia, a full A-line silk georgette gown with ruched bodice, adorned with brooch and optional halter-neck straps.

Sassi feels that all gowns have “to have a little bit of theatre and the effect can be magical” If you like a lot of theatre then Samantha is ideal, it is a full silk tulle gown, with corset top and full skirt.

Uniquely to her profession Sassi Holford is completely self-taught, with all of her gowns being handmade in her Somerset studio, by her talented team of cutters, seamstresses and hand beaders.
