Ruched Wedding Dresses

‘Ruching’ – a bunching of fabric to create a ruffled effect.

Pronounce it ´ruh-shing´ or with more of a French flair, ´roo-shing´.

I really can’t decide if I love or hate this technique. While it can add texture to the sometimes plain A-line dress, if overdone it veers dangerously towards the dreaded ‘meringue’.

Individual gatherings of fabric can be studded with embroidery, flower details or diamante, creating a really stunning and complex overall look, but for many brides it may seem to fussy.

The design pictured is an Alfred Angelo gown.

Who is it for?

Brides who really want that princess wedding and aren’t afraid to take the look all the way.

Who is it not for?

Big girls (sorry), this style will do nothing for you.
